Training at high altitude increases red blood cell production, which improves aerobic endurance. Many world-class runners, including world record holders and Olympic champions, use Iten as a base before competitions. Amateur runners have also discovered Iten in recent years.
You can book your spot at Kenya Camp here, choosing between camps of 7 days, 9 days and 14 days. Many runners also use the option to continue staying at the accommodation for 1-2 weeks extra and do their own training (sometimes with the help of a personal pacer), after the running camp has finished.
Sure! If you're not ready to join Kenya Camp, you can simply book your accommodation in Iten. There are several guesthouses, such as www.itenaccommodation.com. Most of these guesthouses host runners throughout the year. International elite and amateur runners simply book accommodation and food, and go about their own training in the Home of Champions. You can reap all the benefits of this amazing place, and live like a champion - just without the support, organisation and all the extras that Kenya Camp offers.
