Nyoka Loop (Iten, Kenya) – Runner’s Guide
The Nyoka Loop is a challenging dirt trail in the Iten area that follows the famous winding roads of the Rift Valley (literally “nyoka” means snake). The first few kilometres of the route are exactly like the Kiptabus loop. However, halfway the Kiptabus loop this route turns right, leading you further away from Iten. Runners can make some speed on the following downhill part, but should be warned not to waste their energy, because soon the route makes a 180 degree turn and goes back to Iten. From that point, it's several kilometers of relentless uphill running, all the way back until the main tarmac road. At the end of the route once passes the iconic sign of Welcome to Iten - Home of Champions.
