Iten, Kenya—a name that resonates with runners across the globe. Known as the Home of Champions, this small highland town sits at an altitude of over 2,400 meters and has produced some of the world’s fastest long-distance runners. But Iten isn’t just a destination—it’s an experience.
At Kenya Camp, we invite people from all backgrounds and fitness levels to train, grow, and immerse themselves in the heart of running culture. This June, our camp brought together a group of passionate individuals, each with a different story, but all sharing one goal: to challenge themselves in Iten.
The Kenya Camp Experience – June Highlights
June at Kenya Camp was filled with meaningful moments. Together with our guests, we:
Trained daily on legendary dirt roads used by Olympic athletes
Took part in expert-led seminars, strength drills, and recovery sessions
Enjoyed locally prepared, nutritious meals designed for performance
Explored the natural beauty and simplicity of high-altitude life
Met and interacted with elite and upcoming runners from Iten and beyond
The atmosphere was electric—equal parts challenging and empowering. From sunrise runs to evening conversations around the table, the energy was real and the bonds were genuine.

The Marathon That Changed Everything
One of the most powerful moments this June was the Kenya Camp Marathon Challenge—a story of courage and commitment.
When Phillip, one of our participants, arrived at camp, he had never run more than 25 kilometers. But with the support of the Kenya Camp team, he set a bold goal: to run his first-ever marathon—42.2 kilometers at high altitude.
Coach Hugo, the founder of Kenya Camp, didn’t hesitate. He joined Phillip on this journey, along with pacer Augustus and Coach Collins Kibet, who followed in a support vehicle. On a rainy morning at 6:30 am, they set off from Iten. After hours of running through the Kenyan highlands, and with the sun finally breaking through the clouds, Phillip crossed the finish line.
It wasn’t just a marathon—it was a moment of transformation.
We’re proud to say that this challenge has now become a permanent feature of Kenya Camp. Whether it’s a full marathon, a half marathon, or a personal distance goal, we’re here to help you achieve it—step by step.
Giving Back: Supporting Local Schools in Iten
At Kenya Camp, our mission extends beyond running. We believe in giving back to the community that makes this place so special.

We partnered with Kibet4Kids to support Kamokos Primary School, donating over 370 books to help children access quality education and learning resources. For many children in rural Kenya, their biggest dreams start with the basics—school supplies and a ball to play with.
Thanks to the generous support of our donors, these dreams are becoming a reality.
And there’s more to come—we’re thrilled to announce that construction of a new nursery school will begin in August. Education, like running, is a journey. And we’re honored to be a part of theirs.
